In loving memory ~

It is with great sadness that the Strong family announces the passing of our father Lloyd Strong on April 7, 2024, at Fir Park Village in Port Alberni, B.C.

Lloyd is survived by his 4 children, Ted (Gayla), Sheryl Ann, Rick (Kerry) and Ron, 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Lloyd was born in Washington State, raised in the Creston Valley and as a young man moved to Sproat Lake where he operated a sawmill before moving into Port Alberni with his wife Velva to raise their young family. Lloyd worked as a heavy equipment operator until he retired on Denman Island.

Lloyd was pre-deceased by his sister Rose, his first wife Velva and his second wife Arline.

Lloyd loved the outdoors getting out often to hunt, fish and pan for gold and instilled that love in all of his children. He loved gardening, camping, dancing, and baking the most amazing bread. He loved to get folks laughing and was known for his sense of humour.

The family would like it known how very much they appreciated the amazing care our father received from everyone at Fir Park Village with a special shout out to Kim who went above and beyond to make our dad's time as good as it possibly could be.

We will miss you, Dad — your playfulness, determination, courage, and the grace with which you moved through the last few very difficult years. You taught us how to approach our personal struggles with a quiet fortitude and an overriding sense of acceptance of the challenges faced.

Ride upon the wave of love that will carry you forth until we meet again, Dad.

A celebration of Lloyd's life will be held for family and friends at some point in the near future.
