In Loving Memory ~

Peggy was born in Vancouver on August 5th, 1929, and passed away on March 21st, 2024, at the age of 94.

Predeceased by her parents Findlay and Norma, brother James ("Jimmy"), and her husband of 59 years Harold.

Peggy met the love of her life, Harold and married in 1955 moving to Sproat Lake where she lived until 2020, when she moved to Echo Village.

They purchased a house on 3 1/2 acres and had a mini-farm with goats, sheep, pigs, ducks, and chickens just to name a few, and of course cats and dogs.

In the early 60's Peggy started Totem Kennels with her Samoyed's. By 1963 she had the top winning dogs in Canada and by the 70's, she added the Lhasa Apsos to the kennel and continued to have the top dogs in Canada for many years to come.

Peggy was very active in the Alberni Valley Kennel Club teaching the juniors show handling and spent many years teaching obedience classes to people of all ages in the Valley.

Peggy loved the outdoors, often taking her kids and dogs on very long hikes. Fishing was a great time as she always had the biggest trout or salmon in the boat every time. Taking pictures was a passion that she got to be quite good at. Her gardening green thumb was second to none.

Peggy supported Harold as one of the longest-serving Volunteer Fire Chiefs in BC. When she wasn't being a member of the Powder Puff Brigade, providing firefighting coverage during the daytime, she was always making sandwiches and coffee in the middle of the night and delivering them to the firemen and while she was there, she photographed many of the fires they attended.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Wendy (Rob) Gornall and son Terry (Tonja) Bishop, 3 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also, her sisters Betty (Bob) Holburn and Bonnie (Jim) Cullinane, plus many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to Better At Home and the home health care nurses for all the help before Peggy went into extended care. Thank you to everyone at Echo Village for your wonderful care and making her feel at home.

A very special thank you to Frank Holm for the many years of friendship and support of both Peggy and Harold.

Donations to the SPCA in Peggy's name, instead of flowers would be appreciated.

Catholic funeral mass will be held for Peggy at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 10th, at Holy Family Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church.
