In Loving Memory ~

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Marilyn Emilie Oldfield (Gendreau) of Port Alberni on the 12th of May 2024 at the age of 68 years. Marilyn was born on November 3rd 1955 in Edmonton to parents Therese and Leo Gendreau. Also born that day was Murray, her twin brother. Faye (Perdikis) is her older sister.

The family moved to Calgary, then to the USA and finally to Vancouver. After school Marilyn worked 38 years for the RBC bank. She began as a teller and quickly worked her way up.

Marilyn was married to Tom. They shared 46 years of love and travelled the world, adventure after adventure, best friends forever. Marilyn was a social, friendly and outgoing person. She had many close, good friends from school, work and her life beyond. She was the special kind of person you could always count on.

Keeping active was important to her. Summers spent water skiing, winters snow skiing, scuba diving, swimming, dragon boating (her team competed in Australia) and pickle ball.

She was a passionate and dedicated player participating in many competitions here in Canada and the USA. Since moving to Port Alberni, Marilyn was very involved in the community. She held positions in Community Futures, Ty Watson House and Zone 2 55+ BC Games.

Marilyn is survived by her spouse Tom Oldfield, sister and brother-in-law Faye and Bill Perdikis and twin brother Murray Gendreau.

Marilyn's beautiful smile and endless energy will sadly be missed. She was taken from us too early and leaves an empty space in all our lives.

We miss you. You will never be forgotten. Always loved.

A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held in future.
