In Loving Memory ~

Maureen was known for her fearless independence. She had a passion for adventure, gardening, and travelling, and especially enjoyed celebrations and being surrounded by family. Maureen Started as a cook when she was 15 years old at the Old Barclay Hotel and was incredibly proud of her career, especially her time at the Tyee Village.

Her generosity and kindness extended beyond her family, and she sought to ensure no one around her was hungry or cold. Her unwavering support for local charities like the Bread of Life/soup kitchen, The Attic, Crisis Line, and the Salvation Army reflected her deep compassion and desire to care for others.

Married for 46 years, Maureen was predeceased by her beloved husband, Byron K. Maclean. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, carried forward by her daughter, Belinda Maclean Ilett, and son, Shon Maclean. To her five grandchildren, Cody (Heather), Shon (Danielle), Kyle (Jordyn), Brynn (Joanna), and Keith (Margaret), and her seven great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as 'Nanny'—a title she bore with immense pride and joy.

Our family extends profound gratitude to our community for their unwavering support, kindness, and compassion toward our mother. A special thank you to Michelle, who provided exceptional care, support, and friendship to Maureen, may God bless you.

To our beloved Mom (Nanny), thank you for the laughter, your kindness, and your love. You are deeply missed but will never be forgotten.

A Funeral Service will be held at Gateway Church in Port Alberni, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to be made to "The Bread of Life."
