In loving memory ~

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Myrna Shick at the age of 88. She leaves behind to forever miss her her loving husband, Earle; children, Deb (Mike), Rob (Lynda). Dianne (Tom). Rick (Leslie); 8 grandchildren;6 great grandchildren; two loving sisters, Lois Powell and Rena Marshall, as well as many nieces and nephews. Myrna was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Ruby Earthy: siblings, Lloyd Earthy, Peggy Powell, Maxine McGiffin and granddaughter, Danika Shick .

Growing up in Port Alberni, Myrna Earthy met her future husband and life partner Earle Shick in the 8th grade and spent the next 72 plus years by his side.

Myrna was an avid curler in her earlier years and worked at Super Valu for over 25 years and became a friend to so many in the Alberni Valley. In retirement, Myrna and Earle became snowbirds and travelled to Arizona every winter and made many cherished memories together.

Myrna had an affection for an occasional trip to the casino. She always had a way of hitting it big and on her last casino visit, she did just that. In her never ending kindness and generous spirit, she always shared her winnings with Earle.

Myrna also loved to dance and was a very good dancer too. She would put on her favorite music (Anne Murray), and dance and sing the night away.

She was very passionate about her family and friends. We used to joke with her that she must have a secret connection to know everyone because she knew their dreams, history, concerns, relationships and families, all without the internet.

The door to her home was always open and she would welcome our friends treating them like her own, and of course they were well fed with her homemade perogies before they left.

Mom's love for family and caring for others are what defined her as a person.

She will be sadly missed for her remarkable ability to make other people laugh and her unwavering, unconditional love for everyone around.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to all the nurses and aids at WCGH for their kindness and care during these last few months and also a "special thank you" to our amazing neighbors the Fines family and home support, Amanda Walton for always being there when Mom was in need.

We will miss you mom, but spiritually we will always hold and cherish your memories in our hearts.

We Love You Mom!..... May you be at peace in God's Kingdom

There will be no service as requested. In lieu of flowers donations to the WCGH Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
