Born and raised in the Alberni Valley, Nora graduated from Alberni District Secondary School to pursue her dream of teaching, with a degree at the University of Victoria. Nora then returned to Port Alberni and married her husband John. The couple briefly lived in the Lower Mainland, before coming back to the valley in 1993 where they made their home and raised their two sons. Nora began teaching at ADSS and Mt. Nora was honoured to be the first female principal of ADSS and loved her staff and students dearly. Kind hearted and patient, Nora was a determined educator.
Nora was an avid reader who would spend countless hours in her beautiful backyard with a good book and her Yorkshire terrier dog Thor. She loved country
music, travel, and gardening. Nora was considered a culinary adventuress, always up for trying the most exotic in cuisines. She will be dearly missed by all.
