In Loving Memory ~
Bert passed away peacefully at Echo Village in Port Alberni, BC at the age of 86.
Survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Rita; sons Barry (Ida) and Brian; grandchildren Jillian (Kris), Tritstan, Nate (Hannah), Zack, Noah, Elly (Justin) and great grandchild Sassa. Also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by all 3 sisters and their spouses, Nancy (Alan), Etta (Bob), and Wanda (Norm).
After graduating from A.D.H.S., Bert went to work in his parent's (Irvine and Flora) family business, Ward's Laundry. Bert owned and operated the business and after 50 years he retired and sold the property.
One of dad's passions was being a private pilot and owning a Cessna Cardinal 177 single engine plane. He enjoyed taking his family and friends for a flight. Dad also enjoyed his electric trains, using over half of the basement for his layout.
His happiest times were going on cruises with his wife, Rita. They traveled the globe throughout their marriage. They also traveled on the road in their motorhome, which always seemed to get longer every few years.
We would like to thank the amazing staff at Echo Village, where Dad resided the last 3 months of his life. His care at Echo Village was so loving and respectful.
