In loving memory ~
After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ron passed away in the home that he loved on February 23, 2024.
He is survived by Jeanette his wife, friend, business partner, companion, and sometimes boss, of 60yrs. Son Michael (Gillian), daughter Sherry, 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Ron was the only child of Les and Lela Barker. He graduated from Alberni District High School and later received his certification as an instrument tech and spent 13 years in the pulp mill. In 1975 he took a giant leap with his wife and bought Evitt Electric and expanded it to what it is today. He was respected as an honest and well-liked boss and businessman both by his employees and customers. Golf in the summer and badminton in the winter were his favorite sports. He enjoyed being competitive in each sport. Ron also had a beautiful tenor voice and had many lead rolls in musicals and performed solos and duets with the Timbre choir.
His family would like to express their gratitude to all his friends and acquaintances for all the help and compassion shown during this time of sadness. A special thanks to the palliative nurses and Dr. Woodley who looked after Ron, day after day so diligently.
Ron had requested no funeral or celebration of life and wanted to be remembered for his love for his friends, family and customers.
