It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother Sharon on April 12, 2017 (Tenerife, Spain). She was a loving mother to daughters Michelle (Richard) Gore-Langton; Gillian Barley (David) Whipp, her grandchildren Danielle, Stephen, Eric and Jessica. She is survived by her brother William Alan Russell and sister Gail (Rick) Thomas, nephews Adam, Charlie, Jay; niece Megan and numerous cousins.

Sharon was born in 1940 (Port Alberni) to parents Myrtle Russell (Odgers) and Willian E. Russell. They lived and worked in Port Alberni where they owned and operated Russell's Jewellers for almost fifty years. In 1968, Sharon moved to Palma de Mallorca, where she taught classical guitar at the 'El Centro de la Guitarra Clásica Española', then later she moved and resided to the island of Ibiza and then Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Photography was one of her most active hobbies for many years where the Canary Islands offered wonderful photo opportunities with their dramatic volcanic landscapes and lush vegetation. Sharon also became one of Spain's few women to obtain her amateur radio license some years ago. She was an amazing cook and was very active on a world-wide cooking forum where she shared many recipes and ideas. She created two wonderful blogs where she shares her photography and life stories in Spain ‘Canarybird's Nest' and 'Tenerife Journal'.

Admired for her intellect, sophistication, gracefulness, creative spirit, love of animals and nature, her beautiful garden, cooking, love of family, her eagerness to learn a new hobby - we have truly lost an amazing lady who inspired us all. The sadness in our hearts cannot be expressed in words. Dearest mom, rest in peace with your loving husband, Wolfram, and your parents and family in heaven. We love you.

A family gathering will be held at a future date.
