Verne John Fedirchuk passed away on July 30th, 2021 at the age of 84 years. Born in Brooks, AB, Verne moved with his family to Port Alberni where he graduated from ADSS in 1955.
Verne started full-time at Somass Division where he worked for 42 years. On May 19, 1962, Verne married Sharon Isabelle Freeborn; they built their home together and had two sons, Bryan (Susanne - grandsons Matt and Cole) and Brent (Julie - grandson Jace).
Sharon predeceased Verne on August 1st, 2020 after a short battle with cancer. Verne was the oldest of four, survived by his sister Grace, his brother Roy and predeceased by his brother Don.
Verne had been very active in the IWA Social Committee and the Somass Division Social Committee. Verne loved to do woodworking in his shop in his spare time and could be found at the Craft Fair at Harbour Quay, socializing as much as selling his projects after retiring.
Verne and Sharon loved to travel, taking the young boys on travel trailer trips as they grew up and then, going on countless cruises and vacationing yearly together in Hawaii, their favourite spot. Verne and Sharon were both active in a trailer club.
Verne will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. There will be a combined celebration of life for Verne and Sharon to be scheduled at a later date.
