Coal issue begs questions

The environmental assessment process applied to the Raven coal project isn't enough.

To the Editor,

Is it naïve to think an environmental assessment can produce independent investigated results, or does government name the tune because they pay the piper?

Can vocal minority influence investigators’ findings and political decision?

Would accidents increase if compensation was paid at almost full rate? Will Alberni have a net gain if coal comes by rail?

If no job except government is guaranteed, are we ravin’ mad to think 16 years on welfare is preferable to employment?
