To the Editor,
There was a time when Stephen Harper spoke passionately about democratic ideals and openly criticized the Chinese government for its abuse of human rights. Now he trumpets the need for more Chinese investment, criticizing idealists who defend Canada’s environment.
Why has he changed so radically? Harper has been seduced by the power of the ‘dark side’, those deep-pocketed, multi-national corporate leaders, whose hands ooze with Alberta’s black bitumen.
