To the Editor,

In your July 11 issue you detailed the social media policy discussion at city hall and my actions which spurred the discussion (Councillor caught using fake profile). In this day and age, this is a critical discussion to have and one I am sure will continue. But while you mentioned an apology I made online and to Council, I would like to take this opportunity to make that apology directly to your readers and the community at large.

Your concurrent poll asked if elected officials should be held to a higher standard than the general public. I believe we should be. I am sorry that my actions did not live up to that standard.

I commit to your readers and everyone in this community to continue working as hard as I can for this City in the best way that I can.

Chris Alemany,

Councillor,

City of Port Alberni
