It was another great day at the Alberni Golf Club, as 56 men hit the links for the best net and best gross event for the men’s golf club on Sunday, April 7.
In the A Flight, leading the way was Mike Savard with a gross 72. He was followed by Scott Staley, recording 75, and Ted Stewart (77). On the net side of Flight A was Josh Harvey with 67, Blake Frechette (71) and Cody Breuker (73).
In Flight B, the net winners were Craig Acland (65), Jason Dwolinsky (72), Chris Owen (72), Thomas McChesney (74) and Justin Sketsch (74). In C Flight, the net winners were Phil Anker (67), Cal Davies (70), Charles Mealey (74), Bob Matlock (77) and Dave Mann (77). All ties were settled by retrogression.
The closet to the pins were won by Bill Bjornson on No. 2, Craig Acland on No. 4 and No. 13 and Mike Savard on No. 17. The charity closest to the pin on No. 7 was won by Trevor Zado, who collects $84. The winners of the gift card draws, courtesy of Boomerangs Café, are Cory Nielson, Colton Buffie, Fred Fredrickson, Tanner Doucette and Don Grill. All prizes may be picked up from the Pro Shop.

Next Sunday is the Play with a Pro competition, sponsored by Alberni Toyota. Please book your own time in your own group, starting at 8 a.m. and going until 10 a.m.
The format is as follows: when you come into the clubhouse on Sunday morning, pick two names of pros playing in the Masters out of a hat. Your net score and the best of the pro’s score will determine where you finish in our competition. We will also be giving out a few of our own gross prizes.
The cost for the day will be $15, which includes prizes, closest to the pins, the charity closest to the pin and the money pot. Please put two names per card.
