Tofino is about to see how Port Alberni’s  skateboard team rolls.

Three members of the new Totally Board Surf Company skate team are competing in the Seventh Annual Tuff City Skate Competition in Tofino this weekend.

The two-day event is expected to attract competitors from across Vancouver Island.

Skaters will be competing in five categories for $500 in cash and prizes.

The categories include junior, novice, girls, intermediate and advanced.

Totally Board team members going to the event include Cameron Cootes and alternates Trevor Loranger and Jordan Joseph.

Fellow members Brantyn Wong, Taylor Lee and Logan Janney can’t make the trip.

This is the Port Alberni team’s first foray into skate competition and the expectations should be easy to live up to: there aren’t any.

“There’s no pressure here—I just want them to enjoy themselves and have fun,” team manager Tracey Chester said.
