Alberni's Iron Lady golf tourney a go

Rain or shine Alberni's Iron Lady is going to be fine.

Today’s play was meant to be the tie breaker for chip-ins which have been adding up all year.

There are three golfers jockeying for the top place so watch out for a “Chip-Off” coming up when the weather clears.

The Monthly Medal was also scheduled and will have to be re-programmed till next season.

Due to circumstances beyond our control the game was sidelined to a stimulating  meeting followed by our yearly AGM and election of officers for the 2012 season.

A huge vote of thanks to our outgoing executive and a hearty welcome aboard to the new(old) executive who are as follows:  president, Kathy White; secretary, Shannon Haggard; treasurer, Janice Cross; captain, Teresa Cutting; first vice captain, Gayle Rhodes; house, Gwyn Bowen; rules and handicap, B.J. Harper and Pat Nicklin; B team play, Carol Bouchard; C team play, Kathy White; Solheim Cup, Shirley Goodman; sunshine, Sandra Simpson; flowers, Claudia Romaniuk; ringer board, Linda Christian; West Cost Open co-chairs, Olga Kanigan and Shannon Haggard with a hard working committee.

Now that’s a long list of dedicated golfers who will be looking for assistance from time to time so let’s give them all our support next year.

There’s a list circulating to sign up for the closing luncheon next Tuesday so try to get your name on that and/or call in to the pro shop and tell them your coming.

Cost is $17 per person and you pay when you get there on Tuesday. Lunch will be served at 12 p.m.

A good time for those who are heading off to southern climes to say goodbye to their golfing friends.

The final event of the year will be the Iron Lady Tournament, which will be held on Oct. 15, rain or shine.

Let’s see who’s “Tough as Nails” and “Twice as Rusty.”  Lots of prizes and surprises.

There’s a “MacDermott Insurance/ Bowerman Excavating Hole in One set up for $10,000 cash if you can ace that No. 17 Hole.

Deadline for registration is Oct, 10 so find a partner for this Best Ball-2 Ball competition and come on out, even if it rains for a fun time.
