The Alberni Valley Bulldogs will try to avoid elimination in Coquitlam tonight (Saturday, April 13) after falling 2-1 to the visiting Express during Game 5 of the BCHL’s Coastal Conference Quarterfinals.

Although the Bulldogs had a crowd of 1,713 cheering them on Friday evening, the Coquitlam Express opened scoring in the first period. Bulldogs forward Hayden Stavroff managed to tie things up in the second, but Coquitlam scored again near the end of the third period to take the game 2-1.

Bulldogs goaltender Callum Tung made 22 saves in the loss, while Coquitlam goaltender Adam Manji made 23 saves.

The Bulldogs will head to Coquitlam tonight for Game 6. A loss means they will be eliminated from the playoffs, while a win will bring them back to the Alberni Valley Multiplex on Tuesday, April 16 for Game 7.
