The Alberni Valley Bulldogs were tamed at home this weekend in a pair of games against the Penticton Vees and the Surrey Eagles.
The Penticton Vees proved to be too much for the Bulldogs to handle on Saturday, Dec. 2, coming away with the 5-2 win in front of more than 1,000 Bulldogs fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Both teams swapped goals in the first period, the first number a first-ever BCHL goal by Bulldogs affiliate Pearce Messer.
But the Vees would take the upper hand in the second period, scoring three goals while the Bulldogs were only able to put up one. The Vees put up another in the third to take the game 5-2.
Goaltender John Hawthorne had his first assist.
On Sunday, Dec. 3, the Bulldogs were able to score to send the teddy bears flying to the ice, but couldn’t get past the Surrey Eagles, who took the game 6-2.
Both Bulldogs goals were netted by Connor Welsh, and Hawthorne kicked away 45 of 51 shots in the game.
The Bulldogs are on the road this weekend for a three game road trip. All the games will be available to watch at Boston Pizza.
