Buffie and Sketsch win Haggard event at Alberni Golf Course

It was a great day this past Sunday as 44 men teed it up for the Haggards Trucking alternate shot event at the Alberni Golf Course.

It was a great day this past Sunday as 44 men teed it up for the Haggards Trucking alternate shot event at the Alberni Golf Course.

Coming in with the low gross of the day with 68 was the team of Colton Buffie and Justin Sketsch. Jim Proteau and Cory Nielson followed with 72.

Next was a tie between the team of Colin Hamilton and Preben Rasmussen and the team of Gary Korven and Tyler Robinson—each recording 74. The final gross prize with 75 went to Fred Fredrickson and Mike Savard.

On the net side of the day coming in with 59 was the twosome of Vic Carlton and Mel Trelvic, followed by Bob Vandermolen and Wolf Suhr, next was Darren VanDyk and Phil Anker, then came Brian Tall and his cousin, Brent Tall.

Next with a score of 63 were the teams of Cal Davies and Tylo Smith, and Darrel VanOs and Bill Morin also with 63. Next came the team of Lloyd Fairley and Gerry Fagan with 64. The final prizes were awarded to Chris Owen and partner Matt Mesic, Gary McLeod and Bent Stolth, Al Wright and Glen Trask, and finally Jerry Swaney and Gerry Blender.

Closest to the pins were won by Cal Davies on No. 2, Charity Closest to the pin on No. 4 was Jim Rhodes (collecting $25), on No. 13 was Lloyd Fairley and on No. 17 it was Tyler Robinson.

Next week is a computer picked scramble, sponsored by Pacific Chevrolet. This will be played on an altered course, with some very interesting holes. Some holes will be almost impossible while others will be very easy. All in all it makes for a fun day. Please register in the pro shop with your handicaps no later than 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 3.

One final note: remember, gentlemen, that starting this Sunday June 4 the shotgun will be at 8 a.m.
