Ladies golf Pitch n' Putt: Strike three - you're up.

The ladies of the 18 hole division had a chance to make a home run between the rain drops with the ball sweep theme of “strike three”.

“Strike three” doesn’t necessarily mean your “out”.

The ladies of the 18 hole division had a chance to make a home run between the rain drops with the ball sweep theme of “strike three”.

They got to subtract the total of their three worst holes from their total gross score.  Marie Randall came running home with a score of 76.  Teresa Cutting and Pat Nicklin tied for second with their score of 80.  It was Teresa who took it by retrogression.

The Monthly Medal was in contention and was also a tie between Marie Randall and Katy Cyr.  Here again retrogression was used to determine the winner and Randall took it.

Carol Bouchard had the challenge pin in her grasp and was challenged by Sandra Simpson.  Bouchard retained it and has already been challenged by Gayle Rhodes for next Tuesday morning’s play.  The real challenge here is to see who can keep the pin the longest.

Today’s low gross winner was Ilona McCleod with her score of 93.  Low net was taken by Carol Hastings with her placing of 72.

Qualifying for the Zone 6, four-ball tournament to be played at Morningstar Golf Course  on Aug. 8 are Team one: B-Jay Harper and Pat Nicklin, low net; team two: Carol Hastings and Shirley Goodman, low net; Team three:, Teresa Cutting and Claudia Romaniuk, low gross; Stand-by team, Sandra Simpson and Olga Kanigan.

Next week will be our Bea Kullman field day.

Each player puts up a toonie which will be used as an entry fee and used for prizes — cool, cool cash.

Check out the new bulletin board located in the hallway just outside the restaurant.  Our rules chairman has posted a new “Rules Contest”.  Get involved for a fun and educational way to learn the rules!

9-hole Division:

A Division: Kathy Toms took the low gross placing followed by Marilyn Merwin with low net and Marie Swain with the fewest recorded putts.

B Division: low gross position was taken by Lorraine Wilson.  low net by Lesley Anderson.  Low putts by Carol Novak.

Betty Adair had a pretty little chip-in on No. 10 and Jean Illman had another on No. 18.  Lorraine Wilson had a much deserved par on No.  17.  A tough hole to par on any given day.

The 9-hole ladies will be hosting their Interclub event on July 12 with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.  Lady golfers from all over the island will be coming to join them.  Thanks to Marie Swain for setting up the details of this Interclub.

Come on out to the golf club on July 6-7 to look at and bid on items for the charity auction.  Buy a ticket for a “Ride for two on the Martin Mars Water Bomber”.

You don’t have to be a golfer to bid on or win this prize.Everyone welcome.  Good Luck.
